Be sure to mark your calendar for our Kick-Off — Afternoon at the movies.
On August 19th, we will be showing the movie Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is a 1939 American political comedy-drama film directed by Frank Capra, starring Jean Arthur and James Stewart, and featuring Claude Rains and Edward Arnold. The movie is still relevant 81 years later when you think about how President Trump has to single-handedly battle ruthless Democrat politicians and a national and local media out to destroy him.
The August 19th program runs from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Refreshments will be provided for a slight fee or feel free to bring your own goodies.
Two Republican candidates, running for the Arizona State Legislature, will join us as they guide us through the film.
Mark Workman for State Senator
Deborah McEwen for State Representative
Both Candidates will give a brief overview of the film and how it relates to what’s taking place in Arizona today.
We will watch about half the film, and take a break with our Candidates leading a facilitated conversation.
You will have an opportunity to raise those issues that concern you the most.
At the end of the movie, Candidates Mark Workman and Deborah McEwen will summarize the film’s meaning and purpose and how they plan to bring integrity, common senses, and solid conservative principles to the Arizona State Legislature. —- Just like Mr. Smith
You will also have the opportunity to become directly involved in their campaigns. —- Just like Mr. Smith
