The Republic Club of Green Valley/Sahuarita is advocating for an End to all State Funding of any Arizona School District that uses the 1619 Project as part of its student curriculum.

The Resolution to Protect Arizona Students was approved unanimously by the eleven person Board of Directors of the Republic Club of Green Valley/Sahuarita on July 20, 2020. The purpose of the Resolution is to educate, organize, and mobilize Arizona Citizen Tax-Payers to contact members of the Arizona State Legislature and Governor to withhold tax-payor dollars to any Arizona school district that uses the 1619 Project as part of its education curriculum.

The 1619 Project is destroying the political, economic, and social culture of the United States.

Self-proclaimed Marxist revolutionaries developed the 1619 Project with the intent to indoctrinate and not educate Arizona students. Essays, podcasts, videos, and webinars describe the US Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and our Founding Fathers as illegitimate and racist.

Top historians have described the 1619 Project as historically and factually false. Most notability, Gordon Wood, a National Humanities Medal recipient at Brown University, believes the Project is something that should not be part of the public education curriculum.

Dr. Yale S Wishnick, President of the Republican Club of Green Valley/Sahuarita, stated the 1619 Project is destroying the political, economic, and social fabric of America. According to Wishnick, “The authors of the 1619 Project argue that slavery is the lens through which America’s Founding and her history should be taught in public schools. Not only is this a ridiculous notion and absurd pedagogy, but it also defies any form of common sense and logic. It is degrading to all Americans, and school board members, administrators, and teachers should never have the 1619 Project see the light of day in their public schools. “

Twelve Civil War historians described the 1619 Project in the following fashion: “As historians and students of the Founding and the Civil War era, our concern is that The 1619 Project offers a historically-limited view of slavery, especially since slavery was not just (or even exclusively) an American malady, and grew up in a larger context of forced labor and race.” According to these and other historians, the 1619 Project has nothing to do with helping students understand American history. Instead, the 1619 Project is apart of a revolutionary movement to transform the United States into a socialist/communist nation by indoctrinating students to hate their Country.

Dr. Wishnick indicated he was incredibly proud of the Republic Club of Green Valley/Sahuarita Board Members and their decision to pass the Resolution in opposition to the 1619 Project. “Everywhere you hear Republicans complain and criticize the public schools in their failure to educate our kids about the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. If the Arizona Legislature and Governor allow the 1619 Project to exist in Arizona public schools, they deny the greatness of America and our Founding.”

Resolution: The Republic Club of Green Valley/Sahuarita (RCGV/S) believes the Arizona State Legislature, and Governor, should immediately halt State Funds to any Arizona public school district that offers to students a curriculum based on the 1619 Project and/or Black Lives Matter Indoctrination

Whereas, The United States was born on the 4 July, 1776, at the signing of the Declaration of Independence, by our Forefathers,

Whereas, The Declaration of Independence was a Formal Legislative Enactment by Congress, preserved in time, which was the birth of our nation 244 years ago,

Whereas, The Preamble,When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation”

Whereas, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…”

Whereas, “…We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States…”

Whereas, All recorded History of theseUnited States since July 4th, 1776 acknowledges that this date was the beginning of this country, that it is documented as proof positive in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, in the National Archives Museum,

Whereas, Although the 1st Amendment protects all speech, it does not provide legitimacy to the propaganda and false narrative of the 1619 Project,

Whereas, Illegitimate attempts and propaganda intended to change these facts are rejected by RCGV/S, and should be rejected by all Americans,

Whereas, The 1619 Project is an illegitimate attempt to re-write the history of the United States of America,

Whereas, The President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, has vowed to fight “the left’s culture war”, and the RCGV/S supports him 100%

Be it Resolved, The Arizona Legislature and Governor should immediately halt any state funds to any Arizona public school that offers to their students any curriculum based on the “1619 Project” and/or Black Lives Matter propaganda,

Be it further resolved, that the most vigorous efforts should be exercised to inform all of our elected state representatives, the Governor, all Legislative Districts, Clubs, and Organizations, of this resolution, adopted by the Republican Club Green Valley/Sahuarita on this day, 20 July, 2020.
